ENG vs IND: The ongoing first Test match between England and India is wonderfully set up with some quality cricket on offer. England bundled out for just 183 runs in their first innings after which India took a crucial lead of 95 runs as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja scored brilliant fifties each. However, the hosts have shown better application with the bat in the second innings so far to wipe off the deficit.
Unlike the last three days, it turned out to be a bright and sunny morning session at Trent Bridge in Nottingham as the clouds stayed away. England’s opening duo of Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley started off things on a tentative note. For India, Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling alongside Jasprit Bumrah and both the bowlers kept on asking some difficult questions regularly. Siraj eventually got reward for his disciplined bowling in the form of Burns’ wicket. Bumrah too removed Zak Crawley in quick time to leave the hosts in a troublesome situation at 46 for 2.
However, the pair of skipper Joe Root and Sibley then batted amazingly well to bring their team back in the game. Their sensible and brilliant batting helped England take a vital lead of 24 runs. Root and Sibley have already added 73 runs for the third wicket partnership and are still unbeaten at the crease with England placed at 119 for 2 at Lunch on Day 4. The honours were eventually shared as a total of 94 runs were scored and 2 wickets fell in that opening session in this gripping Test match.
England captain Joe Root once again looked in a fabulous touch scoring his second fifty of this first Test match against India and he is looking solid for a big score. On the other end, Sibley has also shown great temperament so far to provide a much-needed support to his skipper in this partnership and will be looking to do the same further in the second session as well.
