With Hardik Pandya’s back injury concerns where he has been unable to bowl for long overs, India has been need of a pace bowling all-rounder. Apart from Jadeja and Ashwin, who have been active contributor in both departments, the seaming pitches in overseas conditions does require an extra pacer in the team.

Supposedly the bowler who can be handy with the bat has become a batting all-rounder for the Indian team in the test format. Early in his test career, Shardul Thakur has been terrific in the lower order with his hefty contributions since the Australia tour.

In the ENG vs IND 4th Test Match, Shardul Thakur has scored consecutive half-centuries to put India in front-foot and help the team in posing a total of 368 runs for the home team. With this impressive performances, Thakur has impressed the fans and Cricket fraternity. The social media platform Twitter is flooded with the Lord Shardul memes. Even the former Indian openers Wasim Jaffer and Virender Singh have been using Lord Shardul in their tweets to laud the player’s performance.

The new batting all-rounder for the Indian team will be critical to the team’s success with the ball as well. Although, he has got limited success with the ball in hand, he has the uncanny skills to pick wickets at a crucial juncture of the time.
