After arriving in for the England vs India 1st Test, the visiting English team have witnessed some sensational moments and almost everything has gone in their favour. Firstly, England captain Joe Root called it right at the toss and opted to bat first on a flat Chennai wicket. Secondly, the two inexperienced England openers, Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley gave their team a good start after which skipper Root played a masterclass knock of 218 runs to help his team post a monumental total of 578 runs in the first innings of the Test match.

After posting a mammoth total, England’s strike speedster Jofra Archer got rid of the two Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill to make the Day 3 lunch taste better for the English side. In the second session, as soon as India were looking to make a comeback in the game, England came back steadily with Dominic Bess removing first the Indian captain Virat Kohli and then his deputy in Ajinkya Rahane in successive overs.

Cheteshwar Pujara walks back in the most unfortunate dismissal

However, after being reduced to 73 for 4, India were supposed to boil down under the pressure, but instead, Rishabh Pant came out with an all guns blazing attitude and took on the English bowlers from the very first ball. Things were moving pretty steadily for India as both Pujara and Pant were scoring runs at a brisk rate. However, at the individual score of 73, Pujara got dismissed while playing an aggressive shot off a rank poor delivery from England spinner Dom Bess.

Pujara got an absolute hit-me delivery and he went for the pull, but the man who was ducking at short leg, the ball hits his left shoulder and lobbed to Rory Burns for a simple regulation catch. Pujara’s wicket surely came at the wrong moment for India as they got reduced to 192 for 5. During his stay at the crease, Pujara certainly looked in complete control and will surely be disappointed to walk back in such a fashion.

India find themselves in a huge trouble after Pujara, Pant dismissals

India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant wasn’t shying away at all from playing his shots and backed his natural attacking game from the start against the England bowlers and was surely successful at it as well. However, after Pujara’s dismissal, he surely had to play the mature hand, but the youngster continued to take on the English spinners which also brought his dismissal when Bess removed the southpaw while attempting for a wild slog. Pant walked back in the 57th over after playing an impressive knock of 91 runs off just 88 balls. Bess claimed his fourth wicket of the match and undoubtedly, England are surely at the top in this 1st Test match.
