IND vs ENG T20I: Except for the uncanny result in the first test match which England won, India hardly had to sweat in the remaining three test matches. Virat Kohli-led team completely outplayed and outfoxed Joe Root’s men, winning the series 3-1 eventually. In fact, the gulf between both teams during the recently concluded India vs England series felt more than the 2-game margin. The visitors were no match.
However, the upcoming IND vs ENG T20I series is expected to be a close affair. Not only England are the reigning world champions in 50-over cricket, they are also the no-1 ranked T20I team in the world. That counts for something. England has managed to get the monkey off their backs in the white-ball cricket. This series is likely to go down to the wire. India will have to be extra cautious, with no room for complacency; there are reasons for India after such a domineering performance, however; as England can rattle the hosts.
Amidst all the doom and gloom, there’s something to cheer about for England fans. As per reports in English media, superstar fast bowler Jofra Archer has started bowling in the nets, which suggests that he could be fit for the first T20I.
The 25-year-old had to sit out the fourth test due to pain in the elbow, but there was no discomfort as he bowled in the nets on Sunday and Monday.
“Jofra’s elbow did flare up a little bit and the medical staff are managing that at the moment”
“Obviously we’ll monitor his progress. The medical staffs are talking about how we deal with this long term. He’s trained today with the white-ball squad. We’ll be monitoring his situation,” England Head Coach Chris Silverwood told ESPNCricinfo.
England announced a strong T20I squad for the India vs England series. Eoin Morgan replaces Joe Root as captain, while the likes of Jason Roy, Jos Buttler and T20 specialist batsman Dawid Malan are also in the squad.
