Axar Patel IND vs PAK: Things are once again bound to reach the cusp point as one more high-octane clash is here and Team India is ready to lock horns with Pakistan in the Super 4 encounter of the Asia Cup 2022 on 4 September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It was a nail-biting thriller which went down the wire when both these teams met last in the ongoing edition of the T20 competition as India emerged victorious on the back of a superb all-round performance from Hardik Pandya.
Team India recently suffered a huge blow as their premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja sustained a right knee injury and subsequently, got ruled out from the remainder of Asia Cup 2022. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) immediately announced Axar Patel as the like-for-like replacement. However, according to a report by Sports Tak, Axar who was part of the reserves, is yet to join the rest of the India squad in Dubai ahead of the important game against Pakistan on Sunday. Jadeja’s injury has created a huge void in the Indian team as they definitely need a left-handed batsman in the playing XI against Pakistan in order to counter the threat of leg-spinner Shadab Khan and left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz during the middle-overs.
The Indian team management only have the option of a left-handed batsman in Rishabh Pant who is currently behind in the race as Dinesh Karthik played the first game against Pakistan as the wicket-keeper batter. There is a big possibility that Ravichandran Ashwin will replace Jadeja in the India playing XI. However, if pace bowler Avesh Khan fails to recover from viral fever then the Men in Blue might be tempted to bring in one of Deepak Hooda or Ravi Bishnoi.
