Yuzvendra Chahal IND vs PAK: In a crucial news update, India’s premier leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is not part of the playing XI for the massive opening encounter against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be hosted at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. India are coming into this tournament on the back of two amazing T20I series victories against Australia and South Africa at home.

IND vs PAK: Why is Yuzvendra Chahal Not Playing Today’s India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 Match?

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that Yuzvendra Chahal unfortunately misses out for this crucial clash against Pakistan. Incidentally, Chahal has been a consistent wicket-taking bowler for the Men in Blue in the recent times but they have backed senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing 11. Ashwin picked up as many as three wickets in the practice match against Western Australia but was wicket-less in the recent three T20I matches against South Africa at home. Rohit and the Indian team management might have preferred Ashwin over Chahal to increase depth in their batting line-up.

“We are going to field first. Looks like a good pitch, it’s always nice to bowl with overcast conditions. Think the ball will swing around a bit, and we need to take its advantage. Preparations have been good. We played a couple of practice games in Brisbane. Time to come out and enjoy ourselves now. We were expecting nothing less than this, hopefully we’ll entertain them (the crowd). We have seven batters, three seamers and two spinners,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma at the toss.
