IND vs SL Live, 1st T20I: Prithvi Shaw, Varun Chakravarthy India T20I Debut

IND vs SL Live: After a brilliant performance in the ODI matches, India is playing Sri Lanka in the first of the three T20I matches at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India won the three-match ODI series with a 2-1 scoreline. India will be eyeing to test some fresh faces in this T20I series against Sri Lanka for the all-important T20 World Cup scheduled to be held later this year.

Prithvi Shaw, Varun Chakravarthy India T20I Debut

In a massive recent development, the duo of Prithvi Shaw and Varun Chakravarthy are making their India T20I debut in the first match against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka have won the toss and opted to bowl first in the first T20I against India. Prithvi was seen in all of three ODI matches on this tour as well but this will be the first ever international outing for mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy who has been really impressive in the last two editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) while representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

“We wanted to have a bowl first as there’s dampness in the pitch but we are capable of putting a good score on board. It’s about giving opportunities to new players and see how they perform and have a good chance for the upcoming World Cup. We got lots of changes, two debutants for us. Prithvi Shaw and Varun Chakravarthy,” said India captain Shikhar Dhawan at the toss.

“We are going to bowl first. I think the wicket will play better in the latter part of the game. We can’t control the injuries and it can change the momentum as well. These three games are very important for us and we have got two debutants. We got three changes from the last ODI. Isuru Udana comes back,” said Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka.
