It is understood that the right-handed batsman has stayed back in Mumbai for further scans and thus, he is a doubtful starter for the upcoming India vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I game on Thursday. It is believed that Samson picked up the injury while making a dive for a catch he attempted in the opening over of the 1st T20I against Sri Lanka, however, he did not left the field during entire chase on Tuesday.

Sanju Samson managed to score just 5 runs off 6 deliveries before getting dismissed while playing poor shot and now he might have to miss the remaining two games of the series scheduled on Thursday and Saturday respectively. In his absence, Rahul Tripathi is very much likely to make his India T20I debut in the second game against the Lankan side.
