Team India and Sri Lanka are going neck to neck in the ongoing T20I series at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo. The series between the two Asian nations stands level at 1-1. The visitors thumped the home side by 38 runs in the first T20I while the hosts bounced back to clinch the second match by four wickets.

Navdeep Saina injured ahead of the third T20I 

Indian fast bowler Navdeep Saini injured himself during the second T20I match between Sri Lanka and India at Colombo. The pacer injured his shoulder while saving boundary at extra cover in the 19th over of Sri Lanka’s chase. He was in immense pain when he was taken off the field after injuring his shoulder.

Navdeep Saini who was playing his first match of the T20I series didn’t bowl a single over in the match. The pacer was drafted into Indian XI after nine cricketers were ruled out of the series in the wake of Krunal Pandya testing COVID-19 positive.

India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey while giving an update about Navdeep Saini’s fitness stated that the pacer is currently being monitored by the BCCI’s medical team and the decision regarding him playing the next match will be taken in the morning.

“In Navdeep’s case, I think the medical team is handling it. They will assess the situation tonight or maybe tomorrow morning and take a decision accordingly. I think once the decision is taken and conveyed to the selectors and the coach and then if needed we will make change. But we will have to assess and wait till the medical team informs us,” Paras Mhambrey said

IND vs SL: What Shikhar Dhawan said after the loss in the second T20I? 

With only five batsmen in the side, Team India struggled with the bat in the second T20I as they posted a total of just 132 runs from their 20 overs. Sri Lanka then chased the target in the last over to level the series 1-1.

Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan lauded his team’s never-say-die attitude and praised the young side for taking the match to the last over.

“The surface turned and was a stopping a bit. We knew we were one batter short. We knew we had to construct our innings smartly. We were 10-15 runs short. That would have made the difference. I am proud of the boys. Never say die attitude is amazing. Hats off to the boys for taking it into the last over,” Shikhar Dhawan said.
