Dunith Wellalage India vs Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka have not included young left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage in the playing XI for the third and final ODI game against India at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The visiting Sri Lankan team did not faced the best of fortunes during the ongoing India tour as they also lost the second ODI game by a margin of 4 wickets in Kolkata. Sri Lanka are trailed 0-2 in the three-match ODI series against India.
During the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka stated that they have made as many as two changes to their playing 11 from the last game against India. The visitors have omitted the duo of Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage from the side as Ashen Bandara and Jeffrey Vandersay have been given opportunities in this final encounter of the India tour. During the second ODI game, Wellalage bowled only two overs and conceded just 12 runs. He also ended up giving away as many as 65 runs in his 8 overs during the opening ODI match against India.
“Environment here feels very similar to Sri Lanka. We have been good at the start but batsmen haven’t been able to capitalize after that, that’s something we have to improve on. Two changes – Ashen Bandara is in for DDS, and Jeffrey Vandersay in for Dunith Wellalage,” said Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka during the toss.
