Jasprit Bumrah India vs Sri Lanka: The biggest news is that India’s senior pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been officially ruled out from the entire three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. India is scheduled to face Sri Lanka in the opening ODI game on 10 January, 2023 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

After being announced as a last-minute entrant in the India ODI squad, Jasprit Bumrah will now not be available for selection in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka starting on Tuesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an official press release stating that Bumrah currently needs some more time to build bowling resilience and this decision has been taken as a precautionary measure. Ahead of the opening ODI against the Lanka side, India captain Rohit Sharma also stated that the premier speedster felt some stiffness while bowling in the nets and thus, he requires some more time to attain complete match fitness.

The BCCI have not named a replacement for the fast bowler in the ODI squad for the Sri Lanka series. However, it is still not clear whether the 29-year-old pacer will be available for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand at home.

“Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah, who was set to join the team in Guwahati ahead of the ODI series, will need some more time to build bowling resilience. This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has not named any replacement for Jasprit Bumrah,” said the BCCI press release.
