Kuldeep Yadav India vs Sri Lanka: In an important news update, India’s premier spinner Kuldeep Yadav has once again omitted from the playing XI for the opening ODI game against Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India captain Rohit Sharma stated that they are playing Yuzvendra Chahal as the only leg-spinner in the side for this first ODI match against Sri Lanka. This also means that left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav will once again be warming the bench. The 28-year-old spinner was lately drafted into the playing XI for the third and final ODI in Bangladesh where he finished with figures of 1 for 53 from his quota of 10 overs and also picked up a wonderful fifer in the first Test match. But the Men in Blue have gone ahead with Axar Patel and Chahal as the two spinners in the team for the opening game.

“We are happy to bat first. We would have liked to bowl as well, it’s a good challenge. The ground was flooded with dew yesterday. There will be times where we need to bowl under dew, we got to be ready for that with the World Cup around the corner. It’s about doing the basics right, it’s important to do things differently at times. We need to keep moving in the right direction. Had a great time playing an ODI here last time, hope we’ll have another memorable game today,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
