Suryakumar Yadav IND vs SL: After having smashed his 3rd T20I century recently, Suryakumar Yadav is unfortunately not playing the first ODI encounter against Sri Lanka scheduled to be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. India defeated Sri Lanka by a 2-1 margin in the recently concluded three-match T20I series. However, India suffered two disappointing ODI series defeats against Bangladesh and New Zealand.
IND vs SL: Why is Suryakumar Yadav Not Playing Today’s India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Match?
During the recent third T20I encounter against the Lankan team, Suryakumar Yadav scored the second fastest T20I hundred for India and this was his third century in the shorter format of the game. However, the right-handed swashbuckling batsman has failed to find a place in the India playing 11 for the opening ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. While playing in as many as 16 ODIs so far, Suryakumar has scored 384 runs at an average of 32 that includes two fifties. The 32-year-old cricketer finished as the leading run-getter in 2022 as he mustered a staggering total of 1164 runs at an average of over 46 from as many as 31 T20I games. The Men in Blue have gone ahead with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul as the wicket-keeper batsman in the side for the 1st match in Guwahati.
“We are happy to bat first. We would have liked to bowl as well, it’s a good challenge. The ground was flooded with dew yesterday. There will be times where we need to bowl under dew, we got to be ready for that with the World Cup around the corner. It’s about doing the basics right, it’s important to do things differently at times. We need to keep moving in the right direction. Had a great time playing an ODI here last time, hope we’ll have another memorable game today,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.

How on earth would you leave #suryakumaryadav In the Era of teams playing T20 in ODI we are playing with same mediocre team and How could you drop #Ishan who scored 200 in his last ODI.
Is it because just to fit #KLRahul in the team? @vikrantgupta73 @Vimalwa @BCCI #INDvSL
