After pummeling the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test of the 2-match series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the hosts are booming with confidence. They now head into the second Test at the nation’s capital, i.e., in New Delhi, at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, in a quest to whitewash the Caribbean team.

  • No major changes in the batting lineup are expected.
  • KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue as the openers.
  • Sai Sudharshan, despite a failure in the last game, will keep his place at the no 3 spot.
  • Sai will be followed by Shubman Gill, Dhruv Jurel, and all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
  • Depending on the surface, if seam will be assisted more, Nitesh Kumar Reddy will keep his place as the pace bowling all-rounder. Otherwise, the team management could include one more spinner in Axar Patel, who is more than a handy batter as well.
  • The team management might be tempted to rest Jasprit Bumrah as well to manage his workload.
  • If Bumrah is rested, Prasidh Krishna would take his place.

  • Despite a failure from the openers in the last game, Tagenarine Chanderpaul and John Campbell will keep their place.
  • If the pitch assists seamers in the first two days, Jediah Blades could be in line for a Test debut, replacing either Jomel Warrican or Kharry Pierre.
  • Another inclusion could be pacer Anderson Phillip, who featured in the home Test series against Australia. He could make his way to the eleven for Johann Layne.
  • With Kevlon Anderson being the only batter on the bench, expect him to replace John Campbell in the eleven if the team management decides.
