The Eden Gardens in Kolkata witnessed a short explosive show from India’s star batting duo of skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli against West Indies in the second T20I. During the last ball of the powerplay, Rohit smashed a wonderful one-handed six over the sweeper cover region off Romario Shepherd. The Indian captain even failed to time the shot and got it off the cue end of the bat, also losing his control over that length delivery but still was able to clear the boundary line for nearly a 60-metre six.

The duo of Kohli and Rohit composed a brilliant partnership of 49 runs off just 36 balls after losing the early wicket of Ishan Kishan in just the second over of the match.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India did not have the best of starts as they lost the early wicket of opening batsman Ishan Kishan in the second over with just 10 runs on the scoreboard. However, the duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then took the attack against the Windies bowlers to help India score 49 runs in the six overs of the powerplay. Rohit got dismissed by off-spinner Roston Chase for a 18-ball 19.

However, Virat looked in a phenomenal touch right from the start of his innings and played an excellent knock of 52 runs off 41 deliveries that consisted of 7 fours and 1 six before eventually getting completely bamboozled off a peach from Chase. India will now depend a lot on Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer to lead them to a challenging first innings total.
