Rohit Sharma available for IND vs WI: In a massive news development, India’s full-time white ball captain Rohit Sharma is absolutely fit and available for the upcoming limited-overs series against West Indies at home. Team India is scheduled to host West Indies for 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is starting with the 1st ODI match on 6 February in Ahmedabad. The national selection committee-led by chief selector Chetan Sharma are likely to pick the India squad later this week.

IND vs WI: Rohit Sharma Available for West Indies Series?

According to some relevant BCCI sources, ODI and T20I captain Rohit Sharma has fully recovered from his hamstring injury and is available for the upcoming home white-ball series against West Indies. However, it is being learnt that Rohit will be appearing for a mandatory fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on 26 January, 2022 (Wednesday). The West Indies home series will be Rohit Sharma’s first-ever assignment as the full-time India ODI captain after he was not available for the South Africa ODIs due to hamstring injury.

India vs West Indies Start Date

In another update, it is understood that the duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah will not be available for selection in the home series against West Indies. Ashwin will reportedly be out as he will be undergoing treatment while Bumrah is likely to be rested in order to manage the speedster’s workload. There is still no update on the availability of Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya as they are reportedly yet to recover from their respective fitness concerns.

The India vs West Indies series will kickstart with the 1st ODI scheduled to begin on 6 February in Ahmedabad while the final two ODI matches will take place on 9 and 11 February respectively. On the other hand, the three-match T20I series will start on 16 February in Kolkata while the final T20I match of the home series will be held on 20 February. All the three ODI matches will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad while the three-match T20I series will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
