IND vs WI: In a massive breaking news, India’s duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer have tested negative for COVID-19 and both the players have also joined the rest of the national squad ahead of the second ODI against West Indies on 9 February. India is currently locking horns with West Indies in a three-match ODI series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Rohit Sharma-led team registered a comprehensive 6-wicket win against West Indies in the first ODI.

According to a report mentioned in The Hindu, both Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer have completely recovered from COVID-19 and are allowed to train with the rest of the Indian squad. However, the reports also states that Ruturaj Gaikwad is still under isolation and there is no clear update on when he will be available for West Indies home series. Even after testing negative for Covid, Dhawan and Iyer are unlikely to feature in the India playing 11 for the second ODI against the Windies team on Wednesday.

“Both of them (Shreyas and Shikhar) are allowed to light training as per the protocol. However, the medical team will monitor them before a decision is taken about their availability,” a source in the BCCI told The Hindu.

India vs West Indies 2nd ODI

KL Rahul who missed the opening India vs West Indies ODI match due to his sister’s wedding, has now completed his mandatory quarantine period and is available for selection in the upcoming 2nd ODI. Also, Mayank Agarwal who included in the India ODI squad as a replacement opener after both Gaikwad and Dhawan had tested positive for Covid-19, will be in contention for the next game starting on 9 February.

Their (Mayank and Rahul) coming back after quarantine makes our unit stronger. At the end of the day, it is the team management’s call as to who will play or not. We are really happy to have them back,” Suryakumar Yadav said on the eve of the second ODI.
