Ishan Kishan not playing IND vs WI: In a massive news development, India’s young opener Ishan Kishan has been dropped from the playing 11 for the second ODI against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Hosts India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series after registering a comprehensive 6-wicket win against the Windies side in the first ODI on Sunday. West Indies stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran has won the toss and opted to bowl first in the 2nd ODI match.

During the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma informed that KL Rahul is replacing Ishan Kishan as the only change in the playing 11 from the previous match at the same venue. Rahul missed the opening ODI as he had to attend his sister’s wedding and now joined the Indian camp after completing a mandatory quarantine period of 3 days. Ishan scored 28 runs off 36 balls that included 2 fours and 1 six during the first ODI against West Indies.

On the other hand, West Indies have suffered a massive blow as captain Kieron Pollard is not playing the second ODI against India due to a niggle. In his absence, Nicholas Pooran takes over as the stand-in captain while Odean Smith returns to the West Indies playing XI.
