The Day 1 of the game not only saw a even competition between bat and ball, but it was Shreyas Iyer who was in the headlines as he played magnificently well and became the leading run-scorer for India in 2022 this year.

    Indian batter Shreyas Iyer continued his golden touch in the Tests as well. The right-hander played a staggering innings on the Day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh and bailed his team out of the trouble after early wickets.

    Iyer came to bat when India was left tottering at 112/4. He stitched a crucial 149-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored 90 runs, and helped his side ho past 250 runs on the board.

    Although luck favoured him, but he batted brilliantly and smashed a wonder unbeaten 82-run knock on the Day 1. Iyer smashed 10 fours in his innings and stood tall for the side, when they needed the most. With the way he is batting, it is expected that he will score a big hundred.

    Notably, Iyer has been in the top notch form.  He is  is currently the leading run scorer in ODIs among Test-playing nations in the year 2022. The swashbuckling batter in the 17 matches has amassed 724 runs at a staggering average of 55.69. He also smashed 6 half-centuries and 1 century this year as well.

    With his unbeaten 80-run knock against Bangladesh on Day 1, Iyer surpassed Suryakumar Yadav to become the batsmen with most runs for India in 2022 with 1489 runs to his name.
