India vs County XI: India had a great run in the inaugural WTC Championship but were defeated by a spirited New Zealand side in the final at Southampton. The English summer is far from over as the host nation will take on India in 5 test matches. In order to prepare for the same, India played a practice match versus the County XI.

India XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, KL Rahul (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.

County Select XI: Haseeb Hameed, Jake Libby, Robert Yates, Washington Sundar, Will Rhodes (C), Lyndon James, James Rew (WK), Patterson-White, Jack Carson, Craig Miles, Avesh Khan.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli and Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane missed out through injuries. Rishabh Pant had contacted the coronavirus and was isolating. Interestingly, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan were representing the County XI. Will Rhodes led the home side.

Top Performers:

KL Rahul

Rahul struck an incredible century in the first innings, studded with 11 fours and a six. He did not fare well in the last England series, but this hundred will give a selection headache to the management.

Haseeb Hameed

Indian bowlers, especially Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj, were too hot for the English side. Hameed was the standout performer and scored a fighting 112 as wickets tumbled on the other end.

Ravindra Jadeja

The all-rounder has been in fine batting form over the last couple of years. He got an ample amount of batting time in the middle in both innings. He made two half-centuries which came in quick time, and also picked up a wicket.
