IND vs ENG

England took a 1-0 lead in the ongoing four-match Test series after registering a brilliant 227-run win in the first India vs England Test match in Chennai. On the back of captain Joe Root’s masterclass knock of 218 runs and some great bowling by the trio of Dominic Bess, Jack Leach and James Anderson, England put on a dominating performance to surprise the hosts in their own backyard. However, England would be very much aware of the fact that the Virat Kohli-led Indian Team will definitely come fighting back in the second Test scheduled to start from February 13 in Chennai.

After the four-match Test series, India and England will be locking horns in a five-match T20I series starting with the first T20I on March 12. All the five T20I games will be played in the newly built Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. The visiting England team have named a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against India.

IND vs ENG: Alex Hales ignored for India T20Is

After a stellar Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21 season where he finished as the highest run-getter with 543 runs from 15 matches, Alex Hales has once again been ignored from making a comeback in the England colours. It has been a tough time for Hales as he was left out for the five-match T20I series against India. However, Liam Livingstone has been rewarded for his sensational performance in the BBL as he has been included in the 16-member squad. While representing the Perth Scorchers, Livingstone finished the season with an amazing tally of 426 runs and also contributed with the ball in some of the games.

The rest of the England T20I squad is quite similar to the one which travelled to South Africa in 2020 where the tour was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic situation. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have also named two reserve players in Matt Parkinson and Jake Ball.

England Men’s T20I Squad:

Eoin Morgan (Middlesex) (captain), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Sam Billings (Kent), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Sam Curran (Surrey), Tom Curran (Surrey), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Dawid Malan (Yorkshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), Reece Topley (Surrey), Mark Wood (Durham).

Reserves:

Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire), Matt Parkinson (Lancashire).

IND vs ENG: All eyes focussed on the Chennai pitch for the second Test

After a massive drubbing in the first Test, India have entered a pivotal situation where they have to win atleast two of the remaining games and cannot afford to lose any Test match further in the series in order to successfully book a meeting with New Zealand in the final of the ICC World Test Championship. After winning a crucial toss, England took great advantage of the flat Chennai track by posting a mammoth first innings total of 578 runs. There were a lot of talks doing the rounds about England getting the best of conditions both with the bat and ball in the first Test and thus, it will be interesting to see the nature of the pitch in Chennai that will be used for the next match.
