India vs New Zealand: KL Rahul Out of Test Series? Here’s the official update

Team India is currently playing New Zealand at home. After whitewashing the Black Caps in the three-match T20I series, the home side will face the visitors in the two-Test series. The first match will be played from 25th November in Kanpur while the second Test will be played in Mumbai from 3rd December.

KL Rahul ruled out of the Test series against New Zealand 

With less than two days remaining for the commencement of the first Test match between India and New Zealand at Kanpur, the hosts have suffered a major setback as premier opener KL Rahul has been ruled out of the two match Test series.

The opening batter has sustained a a muscle strain on his left thigh, which rules him out of the series. Rahul will now undergo rehabilitation at NCA and will gain fitness for the South Africa tour, which begins from 17th December.

BCCI released the official statement, confirming the same and named Suryakumar Yadav as the replacement of Rahul in the side.

“Team India batsman Mr. KL Rahul has sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh and has been ruled out of the upcoming 2-match Paytm Test series against New Zealand. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Mr. Suryakumar Yadav as KL Rahul’s replacement.” BCCI stated

The absence of KL Rahul will leave a massive void for Team India, considering his red hot form. However, it’s now likely that Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill will open the batting for Team India and one among Shreyas Iyer or Suryakumar Yadav will make their debut for the nation in whites.

Ajinkya Rahane will lead Team India in the first match in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli, who’ll join the team for the second Test in Mumbai.
