India vs South Africa 2nd ODI: India and South Africa are currently playing in the three-ODI series. The Proteas are currently in the lead after having thumped the hosts by 9 runs in the rain-curtailed opener in Lucknow. With two games remaining in the series, fans would likely be in for an exciting two games as both the teams look balanced and hungry for the win. 

India vs South Africa 2nd ODI: Deepak Chahar likely to be ruled out of the second ODI against South Africa 

The second ODI between India and South Africa is scheduled to take place on Sunday (9th October) in Ranchi. However, ahead of the match, the hosts have a suffered a major blow as pacer Deepak Chahar has injured himself again.

As per the reports in PTI, Chahar twisted his ankle in practice session ahead of India’s first ODI against South Africa and now has been ruled out of the second game. It can be now be suspected that because of the injury he didn’t feature in the playing XI for the first game.

Speaking to PTI, BCCI source said that although his injury is not serious but management are likely to not risk him as he’s in standby list for the T20 World Cup. 

”Deepak has sustained a twisted ankle but it’s not too serious. However a few days of rest might be advisable. So it will be team management’s call if they would like to risk Deepak as he is in T20 World Cup stand-by list. In any case, if there is requirement there, it would be a priority.”

India vs South Africa 2nd ODI: Mohammad Shami likely to be Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement for T20 World Cup 2022 

With Deepak Chahar suffering a injury scare, it is learned as per the report in PTI that Mohammad Shami is preferred as the replacement for the Jasprit Bumrah. The pace will travel to Australia in next three to four days. 

Also, the reports suggest that left-arm pacers Mukesh Choudhary and Chetan Sakariya have joined Team India in Australia as net bowlers. The Rohit Sharma-led side reached the country recently and have started their preparations for the upcoming event.
