Rishabh Pant rested for India vs West Indies: In an important news update, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been released from the Team India bio-bubble ahead of the final T20I match against West Indies scheduled to be held on 20 February at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. On the back of Pant’s blistering half-century, India managed to clinch the three-match T20I series by registering a thrilling 8-run victory against West Indies in the 2nd T20I.

The latest development made by PTI is that Rishabh Pant has been given break by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and he will not be available for the third T20I against West Indies and the subsequent three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home. Pant surely deserves some rest as he has been playing international cricket regularly since the Test series in South Africa. It is also understood that Virat Kohli has been released from the India bio-bubble ahead of the third T20I against the Windies team and will neither be available for the Sri Lanka T20Is.

“Rishabh Pant also given break, wicketkeeper to skip third T20 International against West Indies and T20Is against Sri Lanka,” said a statement released by PTI.

After the conclusion of the West Indies T20Is, Team India is scheduled to face Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series and two Test matches. The first T20I between India and Sri Lanka will take place on 24 February in Lucknow while the last two games will be held on 26 and 27 February respectively in Dharamsala. India will be locking horns with Sri Lanka in the first Test match starting from 4 March and this will also be Virat Kohli’s 100th Test. The final game will be a day-night Test fixture scheduled to begin from 12 March in Bengaluru.

IND vs WI: India clinch T20I series in a thrilling encounter

After losing the toss and being put in to bat first, India posted a challenging total of 186 for 5 in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored a fine innings of 52 runs off 41 balls while Rishabh Pant smacked a phenomenal unbeaten innings of 52 runs off just 28 deliveries. Towards the end, Venkatesh Iyer also notched up a quick-fire cameo of 33 runs off only 18 balls.

In the chase, the West Indies big-hitting duo of Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell gave a massive scare to hosts as they smashed the Indian bowlers all over the park. Pooran scored his second consecutive fifty while Powell smacked an entertaining knock of 68 runs off 36 balls. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel held their nerves remarkably well to help India pick up a brilliant 8-run victory.
