India entered this year’s T20 world cup as the #1 ranked side and as usual, a strong favourite to lift the trophy but they were hammered in the semi final by England. They have garnered a lot of criticism for their style of play and Rohit Sharma’s blunders time and again has cost them matches. Rohit Sharma didn’t win Asia cup and T20 world cup which are his only two multinational tournaments after taking over as full time captain.
The focus shifts to 2023 world cup and the world test championship and lets take a look at India’s future programmes till 2023 world cup.
India need to win all their remaining tests to qualify for the final of the WTC for the 2nd consecutive time. They have 2 important tests in this year against Bangladesh in Bangladesh, for which they have also named a full strength side. It is going to be a difficult task for them to overcome Bangladesh who are a strong force in their home in tests and ODIs.
India have the Border-Gavaskar trophy since 2016-2017 when they won in India. Since then, India defeated them twice in Australia and have retained the BGT. This time around, Australia will be determined to get it back and they have been the best side in this cycle of WTC. It is the most anticipated test series for India in a long time.
