The speculations about the happenings of the grandest league in the cricket history in Indian premier league has taken a new turn as the cash-rich league might happen in the September- November window which would mean the T20 world cup which is scheduled to happen in October might get postponed as the situation in Australia is very grim to resume cricket anytime soon.
It is never an easy task to organize a league of IPL's stature as it involves a lot of things to fall into the place especially with very less time to plan. The window that has been proposed is from late September to early November which in itself is a new experience as the IPL has never happened in that period in the past 13 years.
A source in the know said the following regarding the proposed window for IPL
It is still early days as a lot of other things have to fall in place for this to materialize, but yes, the BCCI is looking at a September 25-November 1 window provided the number of cases in the country come down and the government does give a go-ahead. As I said, a lot of things do need to fall in place, but yes, these dates are being talked about and contingency planning is on.
Another IPL official said that there are lot of things that needs to be taken into consideration including the logistics and the climatic conditions in the country during that time of the year. Considering all the aforementioned facts, things are looking gloomy and only time can tell what is in store for the cricket fans
Yes, we have been told about the window, but nothing yet on the venues or how to go about the logistics. We need to understand those sides as part of the next step of preparation as foreign players will need to come in and we have to ensure that government directives with regards to fighting the pandemic are fully abided by. I am sure we will get more clarity as time moves forward as preparations will start say around mid-August if we have to play our first match around the end of September
