The IPL 2021 will start from 9 April and commentators as well retired cricketers have named their favourites for this season. Yesterday, we reported an article about Sunil Gavaskar’s favourite team for the IPL 2021. According to him, looking at the form of Mumbai Indians players like Pandya brothers and Suryakumar Yadav in the recently concluded international series against England hold them in a very strong position. This IPL will also be important due to the T20 World Cup scheduled later this year.
The opening pair in the T20 format is important to set a stable platform for the team and to post a good score on the board.
The cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra also feels Mumbai Indians have a slight edge in terms of the batting department. In the IPL 2021, Quinton De Kock was the second-highest leading run-scorer with 503 runs in 16 matches. On his Youtube channel, he is seen answering the fan questions. In one of the questions, he is asked about the most destructive opening pair in the IPL 2021 season.
“I will go with Mumbai Indians as they have Quinton de Kock along with Rohit Sharma. There are two good banks there. Even if Quinton de Kock gets replaced by Ishan Kishan, it is again a very explosive pair. I will go with them.” Aakash Chopra said on his Youtube Channel.
Aakash Chopra also discusses other opening pairs who could be a good competitors for the most destructive openers in this season. He feels Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings have a good opening pair as well due the good form of Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul ahea of this season. He has a doubt on the opening pair of Rajasthan Royals.
“If Chris Gayle opens with KL Rahul, they can be a very explosive pair. There is no one there to open with Jos Buttler, while Kane Williamson may open with David Warner this season. We can’t forget Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, but Dhawan may play a bit cautiously so you never know.” Aakash added.
