The IPL 2021 Auction will be held on 18 February and as it has happened before, the auction will change the fate of plenty of cricketers. Australian spin wizard Shane Warne believes one Aussie spinner will be among these fortunate cricketers and will get a big amount. Warne thinks Peter Hatzoglou, who is still an unknown entity in international cricket will fetch a big amount thanks to his impressive show in the ongoing Big Bash T20 league.
Warne is highly impressed with Hatzoglou and praised him on Fox Sports. He said that he thinks there would be a lot of interest in Hatzoglou around the world, especially in the IPL and tournaments like that. He firmly believes that the rookie spinner will get picked up in the IPL, the way he’s bowled. According to the former leg-spinner, lot of the franchises over there will look at Hatzoglou and go ‘Wow, he could be a real handful in India’.
Warne admitted that Hatzoglou is not a big spinner of the ball, but he noted that Hatzoglou does bowl out the back of the hand so he does bowl leg breaks. Warned added the youngster can get the occasional one to straighten and is looking to bowl the ball fast, into the pitch, and hit the top of the stumps.
Peter Hatzoglou becomes a sensation in the Big Bash
Peter Hatzoglou has been one of the most successful players in this year’s Big Bash League. Representing the Melbourne Renegades, Hatzoglou is the highest wicket-taker for his team and has claimed 16 wickets in 12 games. He has an impressive strike-rate of 16.1 and averages 22.81 per wicket.
The 22-year-old leg-spinner is playing his maiden Big Bash T20 tournament and has already made a reputation for picking wickets at crucial times. The franchises could go after him in the IPL Auction 2021 as the IPL has seen leg-spinners getting plenty of success and an unknown overseas spinner could be an X factor.
