Teams will be preparing themselves for a successful auction, after all that’s exactly where pioneers of a championship campaign are built. We will take a look at some of the major potential on offer at this year’s IPL 2021 Auction.

Steve Smith

Although Steve Smith has been released by Rajasthan Royals, there are still some teams who can accommodate him in their lineups. An experienced middle order batsman who can add value in middle overs should attract some interest from the teams over auction tables.

Glenn Maxwell

An international superstar but always a liability in IPL – Glenn Maxwell will be hoping to change his fortunes in the cash-rich league. To start with, he will have to find a new team this year as Kings XI Punjab have parted ways with him after a poor season last year. He is a completely different player at International circuit and that would mean that there will be some takers for him on the auction day.

Kyle Jamieson

A lanky fast bowler from Kiwi land is already on the radars of more than one IPL franchises and this will be no surprise if he goes for many come February. Overseas quicks have always been in demand in IPL over the years and the reputation that Kyle Jamieson has built in last year will work in his favour nicely. He has just gone from strength to strength after making his debut against India last year.

Mohammed Azharuddeen

Popularly known as ‘Next Azhar‘ in domestic circuit, this Kerala young gun came into the limelight when he slammed a blazing ton against Mumbai in the ongoing SMAT. Surely, IPL teams will be gunning for him for the upcoming season. From what we have seen so far, this young man has all the shots from the book and is not afraid of taking some risks to keep him afloat all the time. Proper ingredients for a young Indian T20 batsman.

Jhye Richardson

After missing a considerable amount of Cricket last year with his injury, Jhye Richardson is back roaring with his bowling. If anything, his skills have been sharpened while he was away from the game. He is reaping the rewards of same in the ongoing BBL season playing for Perth Scorchers. Surely, he is all set to go for big bucks in the upcoming IPL auction.

Chris Morris

In a surprising move, Royal Challengers Bangalore have released Chris Morris before this year’s season. Whatever the reasons behind this decision were, this presents an opportunity for others to pick up a player who can contribute in all three departments. In T20 cricket, multi-dimensional players have always been need of the hour and Chris Morris is a perfect template for T20 cricketers. Hence, there are possibilities that Chris Morris may go for 10+ Cr when he is put under the hammer.

Mitchell Starc

The premier limited overs bowler in world cricket right now – Mitchell Starc hasn’t been regular in IPL but there are higher chances that this year might be the time when he finally takes center-stage. Nothing official yet but signs are obvious that he will register for IPL auction this year in a bid to prepare for upcoming T20 World cup in India. If that happens, he is likely to fetch the highest price on the day. A left-arm pacer of high quality and plenty of experience under high-pressure situations, Mitchell Starc will have his time under the sun.

S Sreesanth

Two time world cup winner with team India would definitely know what life has to offer even apart from Cricket. After spending his peak years out of the game due to the mistake he made, life has come a full circle for S Sreesanth. He is now eligible to play IPL and looking at his performances for Kerala in SMAT, he is likely to fetch some bids in the upcoming auction. This is likely to remain one of the most important facets in IPL 2021.

Shivam Dube

The most important value for Shivam Dube in the auction is that he is an Indian who has skills to prosper in two departments of the game. Although, he hasn’t taken IPL by storm yet but he adds immense potential with his long handle and with his contributions with the ball. So, Shivam Dube might spring a surprise or two on the auction day!
