IPL 2022 Start Date: There has been enough excitement about the IPL 2022 Start Date, since the mega auction got concluded. It certainly will be the biggest Indian Premier League season comprising of 10 Teams and 70 league stage matches. Here is the latest update on the start date of the 2022 season of Indian Premier League.

IPL Start Date Announced

The dates for starting of the Indian Premier League has been confirmed by the IPL chairman Brijesh Patel. Here is what Brijesh Patel told to Cricbuzz after the IPL governing council meeting on February 24.

The IPL will kick off on March 26, the full schedule will come soon. We will also have crowds but as per the policy of the Maharashtra government. Whether it will be 25 or 50 per cent of the stadium capacity will be decided by the government instruction,” the IPL chairman told Cricbuzz.

The Indian Premier League 2022 will start from March 26, with capacity of crowds being decided by the government in due course. While the tournament’s end date is expected to be May 29, Sunday.  There were speculations regarding the playoffs to be conducted in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. But it has been put to rest as decision is still to take place for the venue details of IPL 2022 playoffs.

Earlier it was also reported that the official broadcaster, Star Sports asked BCCI and IPL governing council to start the 2022 season on March 26, which falls on Saturday to kickstart the campaign in a fine fashion.


IPL 2022 Schedule

Ahead of the IPL start date being announced, there were rumuors about the availability of practice grounds for all the 10 teams in IPL 2022. This was also due to the Mumbai hosting majority of the matches. But the 4 practice grounds have also been confirmed by the IPL chairman.

Practice Grounds:

1) BKC ground, Bandra Kurla Complex

2) Brabourne Stadium, South Mumbai

3) DY Patil ground, Navi Mumbai

4) MCA Ground, Kandivali/ Thane.

There have been no practice grounds allotted in Pune, who is also expected to host 15 league matches of IPL 2022.
