IPL 2022: When will Anrich Nortje join DC Playing XI?

Anrich Nortje IPL 2022: The Delhi Capitals (DC) took a major step ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction when they retained right-arm speedster Anrich Nortje for an amount worth INR 6.50 Crore. However, Nortje has not played any competitive cricket in the recent few months due to his hip injury. Due to the same injury, the South African fast bowler is yet to play a single game for the Delhi Capitals this year in IPL 2022 season.

LSG vs DC: Anrich Nortje IPL 2022 to join DC Playing XI?

After their last disappointing loss at the hands of Gujarat Titans, the Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting revealed that Anrich Nortje has already started bowling at his 100% abilities in the warm-up sessions. Ponting also mentioned that after getting a clearance from Cricket South Africa (CSA), Nortje should be available for selection in the upcoming game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on 7 April, 2022.

“Nortje bowled at 100% this morning in the warm-ups. I think he has to get through another maybe four- or five-over spell at 100% capacity and then if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be ready to go. We have got a few more days before our next game [against Lucknow Super Giants on April 7], so hopefully he is available for selection for that one,” said Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting after the match against Gujarat Titans.

Anrich Nortje has been one of the mainstay clogs in the Delhi Capitals bowling attack especially in the last two years. He has taken a total of 34 wickets in his 24-match IPL career so far at an impressive economy of less than 8. Nortje ended up picking as many as 12 wickets in 8 games of IPL 2021 season at a fantastic economy of 6.16.

Also, David Warner is all set to play his first match of IPL 2022 on Thursday against Lucknow Super Giants.
