It’s great news for all you fans out there. Tata IPL 2025 is officially going to restart on May 17. The tournament, which was suspended for a week after cross-border geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, is back as the BCCI and IPL governing council have agreed to terms after the ceasefire was announced between the two nations.
The tournament will now be held across 6 cities with 2 doubleheaders on Sunday, 18th and 25th May. These 6 cities are Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. All these cities were discussed considering the safety of players and good weather conditions. All these cities will be hosting the remaining league matches of the competition, but the venues for the playoffs are yet to be decided. Check out the full schedule below,
After the tension mounted between India and Pakistan, the IPL was abruptly suspended. Overseas players of all the franchises went into a panic state and left the country. However, with things now sorted and the new schedule already out, the overseas players should return in time.
But there’s a catch: many overseas players are in no mood to return for the remainder of the tournament. Punjab Kings’ contingent seems to be the only one with almost all their overseas players, except for Marco Jansen, available, whereas the 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans, have already started their training with the squad they have.
Australian players, including Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Travis Head, are expected to remain in Australia and not return for the remainder of the tournament, especially with the World Test Championship looming for the Aussie players in June. However, Cricket Australia has left the decision on the players whether they wish to return to India or not. As of now, there’s no official news from any of the franchises on the availability of their overseas players.
Here’s the current standing of all the teams in the IPL 2025 points table after Match 57.
