The IPL 2022 Auction has started with enough excitement of being it the biggest auction ever for quite some time. A total of 33 players were retained by the teams ahead of the auction. Then all the 10 players of Set 1 were sold on the first hour of IPL 2022 Auction, with Shreyas Iyer being the most expensive buy for 12.25 Crores.


IPL Auction 2022: Top 5 Most Expensive Picks of Batsmen Set

 

1.  Shimron Hetmyer- 8.5 Crores

With a bid amount of 8.5 Crores, the West Indies middle order batsman Shimron Hetmyer will play for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022.

2. Devdutt Padikkal-7.75 Crores

The emerging youngster from Karnataka, Devdutt Padikkal will feature for Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League 2022.

3. Manish Pandey- 4.6 Crores

The Lucknow Super Giants has shed INR 4.6 Crores for the experienced top order batsman Manish Pandey, who has been a part of IPL since 2008.

4. Jason Roy- 2 Crores

The England team white ball opener Jason Roy was a quality buy by Gujarat Titans for his base price of 2 Crores. Recently, he hit a century in Pakistan Super League T20 game for Quetta Gladiators.

5. Robin Uthappa- 2 Crores

The out of favour experienced Indian batsman Robin Uthappa was sold for 2 Crores to Chennai Super Kings.

IPL 2022 Auction Live: Raina, Steve Smith, and Miller Unsold

The Marquee set saw no one being unsold, but 3 key players have been unsold in the Batsmen set. They are Suresh Raina, Steve Smith, David Miller, who were part of the IPL 2021 as well but could not do quite enough for their franchises.

Until now, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad have not bought any of the players in the Indian Premier League 2022 Auction. It will be interesting to see which players they target in the next sets.
