With the rising covid cases in the India, the IPL 2021 was played in Two Phases, with the 2nd one played in United Arab Emirates. There were similar reports floating around the internet for the IPL 2022 season as well due to the covid cases still being persistent in the country. But, there is a latest update regarding the venues for the IPL 2022.

IPL Venue: Mumbai to Host Entire Indian Premier League 2022?

The Indian Premier League 2022 likely to be played in a single city, amid COVID 19 pandemic. Although there are still active cases, but they are on a decline and has peaked out in the metro cities of the country. One of such examples in Mumbai, which is the heart of Cricket in India. Here is what BCCI source told about the IPL 2022 venues.

“We aren’t looking beyond Mumbai so far. The third wave of the pandemic is on the wane and there’s no need to host the tournament overseas,” a BCCI source told The Telegraph.

The 3 venues of Mumbai, namely Wankhede, DY Patil Stadium, and Brabourne Stadium are the international level stadiums having all the facilities, and have hosted international games and Indian Premier League as well. While Bandra Kurla Stadium can be used as a venue for the practice matches. With no air travel, the bio bubble would not be easily breached, which might help to contain the covid cases during the tournament.


IPL 2022 Start Date

The Indian team will play home series against West Indies and Sri Lanka in February and March. The Final fixture of the home series will be played on March 18, where the Indian team will be up against Sri Lanka at Lucknow. Earlier it was expected that the tournament may start from March 27.

With a bubble fatigue from 3 back-to-back series and 14-day quarantine rule set by Lodha commitee, it is likely that the Indian Premier League may start from the first week of April.
