The commentators

Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling action has often been commented upon by fans and experts alike. The pacer said that he doesn’t really consider what people are saying and focuses on what helps him play. Former Pakistani pacer Aqib Javed is of the opinion that Bumrah’s bowling action makes him injury prone.

In response to this, Bumrah said that he focuses on what helps him play and tries to keep his body as fit as possible. He said that he doesn’t bother about what experts are saying because there isn’t a perfect bowling action in cricket. Bumrah stated that there is no bowler who has never gotten injured and injuries are bound to happen. He stated that he only focuses on his fitness level.

The 24-year old was in Mumbai for a promotional event as he is associated with ASICS, alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He spoke to reporters there.

The upcoming tour

When asked about the Australia tour, Bumrah stated that it would be unwise to comment upon the Australia tour without actually considering the conditions there. He said that there is a bounce there but recently it has hosted many high-scoring games too. Bumrah said that he always believed in focusing on the next match only and not getting worked up about all future matches.

Bumrah said that if one has a plan in mind then sees the conditions are completely different, that can be problematic. He said that he will plan only after assessing the wicket in Australia. The tour begins from December 6th at Adelaide and will consist of 4 Test matches.

Bumrah also spoke about how helpful it has been for him to discuss his game with India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun. He was part of one U-19 camp under him so the coach knew his bowling style. He was grateful to have a coach who knows his strengths and weaknesses. The communication with him greatly helped, said the death bowling expert.

Rest and the SG ball

Talking about being rested from the first two ODIs against West Indies, he said that it is great to be back from a break as one comes back with a greater zeal to win. He said that the mind and body are both fresh and ready.

He has played 6 Test matches so far. He, however, did not comment on the controversy regarding the SG balls. Skipper Virat Kohli and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have voiced their opinion about not wanting to use the SG balls in Tests in India.
