The 41st match of the IPL 2021 will take place between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. While the Rishabh Pant-led side would be looking to cement a place in the playoffs, the Eoin Morgan-led side has to win every game from here if they have to ensure their place in the playoffs. As of now, Delhi Capitals are placed second on the points table and a win would take them to the top spot, Kolkata Knight Riders are placed fourth on the points table with four wins to their name.
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bowl first against Delhi Capitals. While the Kolkata based franchise named two changes bringing in Tim Southee and Sandeep Warrier in place of Andre Russell and Prasidh Krishna, the Rishabh Pant-led side on the other hand made a solitary change which raised the eyebrows of many fans.

The young opener Prithvi Shaw has been left out of the playing XI and is replaced by Australian batting great Steve Smith at the top of the order. DC skipper Rishabh Pant announced the change at the toss and stated that the opener has some injury which further rules him out of the match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The clash between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders in the first leg of the tournament at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, saw the Rishabh Pant-led side dominating the one-time champions. Asked to bat first, KKR on account of Shubman Gill’s 43 and Andre Russell’s unbeaten knock of 45 runs posted a total of 154 runs.
Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals openers came out all guns blazing and stitched 132 runs for the opening partnership. A finish by Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoins saw them home in the 16.3 over.
