Kohli breaks silence on IND vs PAK World Cup game

Team India skipper Virat Kohli has stated that he and his team will respect the decision of the Indian government and BCCI on the issue of India’s match against Pakistan in the upcoming 50-over World Cup in England. At the same time he made it clear that the team stands by what the nation wants to do.

Will respect what the government decides: Kohli

The Indian skipper was speaking with the media ahead of the first T20I against Australia. When asked about India’s match against Pakistan in the ICC World Cup, Kohli said that their stand is simple. They stick by what the nation wants to do and what the BCCI decides to do and that is basically their
opinion.

He noted that whatever the government and the board decides, they will eventually go by that and will respect that. So that is their stand on this particular issue.

The Indian skipper also offered sincere condolences to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives. He noted that the Indian team is really shocked and sad about what happened.

We go by what government and BCCI decides: Shastri

Team India coach Ravi Shastri said that it is (the decision on playing Pakistan in World Cup) entirely left to the BCCI and the government. He explained that they know exactly what is happening and they will take a call and the team will go by what they decide.

Shastri noted that if the government says it’s that sensitive you do not need to play the World Cup, he will go by my government.

India to play Pakistan on June 16

India begin their World Cup campaign by facing off South Africa on June 05 while the much anticipated match against Pakistan is on June 16th at Manchester.
