Kohli kickstarts trend on Twitter, nominates three athletes

The Indian women cricket team is in full flow in the ICC’ women’s world T20. The team is at the brink of reaching semi-finals and Indian men’s team’s captain Virat Kohli has started a hashtag trend on Twitter to support the Indian women team. He has also nominated three athletes to continue the trend.

 

Kohli’s #JerseyKnowsNoGender trend on Twitter 

The Indian captain posted a video on Twitter with wearing the blue jersey of Team India. In the video, he said that he is super proud of India’s girls wearing our colors and playing their hearts out.

He noted that wearing the jersey and playing for your country is a proud moment and this jersey doesn’t care who you are, where you come from, or what your gender is. He asked everyone to hold their arms up and support Team Indian in the West Indies.

 

Kohli nominates three sportspersons to kickstart this trend.

The Indian captain further said that to kickstart this trend, he is nominating three sportsperson- Sunil Chhetri, Rishabh Pant and Saina Nehwal.

Sunil Chhetri is India’s star football player and is quite popular on social media. He is known for his flamboyant game and for his connect with the fans.

Rishabh Pant has recently made his debut in international cricket and is looked upon as Team India’s future wicket-keeper.

Saina Nehwal is the Olympic-medal winner badminton player who is credited for making badminton a popular sport in India.

 

Indian women team to take on Ireland

The Indian women team will take on Ireland on Thursday in the ICC’s women world T20. A win in this match will confirm India’s place in the semi-finals.

The team has done well in the tournament so far. India defeated New Zealand in the first game in which skipper Harmanpreet Kaur hammered the first T20I hundred for Indian women team. In the second match, India demolished Pakistan with ease.
