The matches are coming thick and fast in the ongoing Indian Premier League. In an important game for them, Punjab Kings took on Royal Challengers Bangalore at Ahmedabad today. With just 4 points from their first 6 games, Punjab Kings were in desperate need of a couple of points from this game.

Harpreet Brar – You Beauty!

After setting a target of 180 to win for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings quicks gave their team a tidy start with the ball. Riley Meredith dismissed Devdutt Padikkal early and once powerplay was over, it was time for another young bowler to display his mettle. It was Harpreet Brar – Left arm orthodox from Moga.

After dismissing Virat Kohli, Harpreet Brar produced a beauty to get rid of dangerous Glenn Maxwell. Pitching on the middle stump, the delivery turned just enough to beat the outside edge and hit the top of off stump. Glenn Maxwell couldn’t believe what had happened but he had to go after replays showed the dismissal.

PBKS Victorious!

After being sent in to bat, Punjab Captain KL Rahul anchored the innings perfectly for them this time with his unbeaten 91. Chris Gayle also made a handy contribution of 46 as Punjab Kings posted 179 runs from their 20 overs. Kyle Jamieson picked up a couple for RCB with the ball.

In reply, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost in-form Devdutt Padikkal early in the chase. Once he was gone, Virat Kohli struggled to provide impetuous to the innings and Rajat Patidar’s inability to clear the ropes didn’t help either. Once Harpreet Brar took out big 3 – Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers from his 4 overs, it was always going to be a tough chase. In the end, Punjab Kings beat RCB by 34 runs.
