The India cricket team created history in 1983 when they became only the second team to have their hands on a World Cup. Under the leadership of the legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev, India lifted the cup on 25th June, beating a strong West Indies side which already won the previous two editions of the World Cup. The final match was played at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground in London.

Last year, it was announced that Kabir Khan would be directing a movie based on Kapil Dev’s life and the World Cup triumph. The movie was named 83′ and popular actor Ranveer Singh was roped in to play the role of the captain of the side, Kapil Dev.

Meet the entire cast of 83′

Over the last few days, fans got a little sneak peek of the movie with various posters. But, finally, we have the first look of the movie. The 56-seconds clip reveals all the 14 actors who will play each of the 14 players of the squad which won the World Cup.

83 set to release on 10th April

The movie is set to release on 10th April 2020. Ranveer Singh’s real-life wife, co-producer of the movie and actress Deepika Padukone will also be seen in the role of Kapil Dev’s wife, Romi Bhatia. 83′ is probably the most awaited film of the year and it is expected to make huge money at the box office.

The story of the 1983 World Cup is more inspiration if you consider the fact India had won only one match combining the two previous editions in 1975 and 1979.

With Kapil Dev at the helm, India arrived at the 1983 Cricket World Cup with very little hope but things started falling in place with good performances by the team throughout the tournament and rest, as they say, is history.
