The preparations for Kapil Dev’s biopic kickstart from Lord’s

1983 World Moment to be revived in '83'

Kapil Dev is one of the greatest pace bowlers that India ever gave to the world. He retired from all formats of cricket in 1994, holding the world record for the greatest number of wickets taken in Test cricket. As a batsman, he used to be a natural striker who could hook and drive effectively. He was naturally an aggressive player. He was nicknamed as ‘The Haryana Hurricane’. He used to represent the Haryana cricket team in domestic cricket.

Thus, to reflect on the life of the former Indian skipper who led India to its maiden World Cup, a biopic is made on him.

On Thursday, Ranveer posted some pictures from the Lord's Cricket Ground, where the second Test match between India and England was scheduled to be held.

Unfortunately, due to nonstop rain, the match could not begin. Indian cricket team led by Kapil Dev had won the Cricket World Cup against West Indies in 1983.

Kabir Khan is all set to direct the film who has earlier made films like Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

'83 is a biopic on Indian cricketer Kapil Dev and most probably Ranveer Singh will play his role. During the launch of the film, Kapil Dev and several other cricketers like Mohinder Amarnath, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Bishan Singh Bedi, Sandeep Patil, Dilip Vengsarkar were invited. Sharing a picture with them, Ranveer wrote, “I feel honoured and privileged to be part of this film.”

About the film, Kabir Khan earlier told news agency, '83 is a very special project for him. I feel it's more than a film. I will continue to making films for a long time. But there are some special projects which you come to know about and those which are much above other films and our individual career. For me,'83 is that kind of a project.”

'83 is expected to release next year in August.

Ranveer Singh and Kabir Khan have started preparing for the movie. Even Kabir took to social media to share a selfie with Ranveer and Sachin.
