Most sixes in an IPL season – Indian Premier League (IPL) has completed its 15 editions and every season has seen a plethora of sixes being hit. Batsmen over the years have taken six-hitting to a different levels in India’s premier T20 League and have etched their names in record books.

Let’s take a look at batsmen with the Most sixes in an IPL season.

The list of Most Sixes in an IPL season is topped by none other than ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle. The southpaw brought in a different brand of cricket in the IPL and played a great role in the league’s success. Playing for RCB, Gayle smashed 59 sixes in 2012, which is still the highest number of sixes hit by any batsman in an IPL season.

Not only does Gayle tops the list, but he has also achieved the feat three more times. He ended IPL 2013 with Most Sixes in that season when he smashed 52 sixes and also topped the list in the years 2011 and 2015, where he smashed 44 and 38 sixes repetitively.

Apart from Gayle, his Caribbean teammate Andre Russell has also found himself in the list of Most Sixes in IPL. Russell is second in the list with 52 sixes in a single season. He achieved the feat in IPL 2019. England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler is fourth on the list of Most Sixes in IPL. He smashed 45 sixes in the recently concluded IPL 2022 and set the stage on fire with his brutal power hitting.

The last on the list of Most Sixes in IPL is Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) premier batsman Virat Kohli. He smashed 38 sixes in a season, in which he made every fan and pundit stand up to applaud him. He also scored 973 runs that season, which is still the highest by any batsman.
