MS Dhoni might be 39 years old, but the great man is still one of the athletic cricketers going around in world cricket. Need proof? We’ve got you covered. In the recently concluded IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, MS Dhoni delighted his fans through a stunning diving catch and a signature stumping.
Much like the last match, this encounter against DC too didn’t start well for the men in yellow. Put in to bat first DC got off to a flying start courtesy off a stunning half-century by Prithvi Shaw and a well supported 35 from Dhawan. Prithvi Shaw was at his absolute best, he amazed everyone with his stunning stroke play and timing, and right when he looked like he was going to breach the three-figure mark, an MSD special signature stumping forced him to curtail his innings on 64 from 43 balls. He came down the wicket to one of Chawla’s flatter deliveries and unfortunately got an inside edge which hit his pads and went towards the wicket. MS Dhoni as always was quick enough to jump forward and stretch to his maximum to affect a stumping in his signature style, thereby ending a stunning innings from Prithvi Shaw.
And if you think his athleticism was over just by that, you are again mistaken. Towards the flag end of the DC innings, he affected another dismissal through a stunning diving catch. This time it was DC captain Shreyas Iyer, who was to be his prey. The incident happened in the last ball of the 18th over. Sam Curran who was bowling brilliantly till then, followed it up with a short ball outside off, which forced Iyer to swing across the line. It took an outside edge. MS Dhoni anticipated it correctly and flew towards his right to complete a stunning diving catch.
Despite all these efforts, CSK were at the wrong side of the results as DC defeated them by 44 runs in the 7th match of IPL 2020.
