Vijay claims only the team management spoke with him in England

Indian opener Murali Vijay has added fuel to the controversies circling Team India’s selection process by claiming that neither the chief selector nor any other person spoke to him in England after he was dropped from the third Test against England.

The right-hand batsman said that  he had a conversation with the members of the team management in England and that’s it.

Important that a player is told about the reasons for keeping him out: Vijay

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh recently questioned the functioning of Indian selectors. Murali Vijay while speaking with a newspaper said that he tends to agree with what Harbhajan Singh has said about parameters of selection.

According to Vijay, it is important that a player is told about the reasons for keeping him out. He feels that this allows the player to know where exactly he stands in the team managements’ and selectors’ scheme of things.

Vijay feels getting more than one or two games helps in planning better

The Indian cricketer stated that as a player it is very important that you are going to get more than just one or two games, so that you can plan better. He noted that stability keeps doubts away.

At the same time he said that ultimately, one has to perform and contribute to the team’s cause.

When asked about the Australia series,  Vijay said that he will be preparing for the Australia series too in his own manner. He stated that he knows the conditions there well and pointed out that he has scored close to 500 runs during the 2014-15 series.

He further added that he wishes to be ready if the chance comes and admitted that ultimately it’s the runs that matter when you are trying to make a comeback.
