Kane Williamson NZ vs IND: In a crucial news development, New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson is not featuring in the playing XI for the third and final T20I game against India scheduled to be hosted at the McLean Park in Napier. Things did not worked out really for hosts New Zealand recently as they suffered a comprehensive 65-run loss at the hands of India in the second T20I encounter and are now reeling behind 0-1 in the three-match T20I series.
Ahead of the final T20I against India, New Zealand coach Gary Stead revealed that Kane Williamson will not be available for the match. The reason for his absence is that Williamson will be attending a pre-arranged medical appointment. During the second match, the New Zealand captain played a struggling knock of 61 runs off 52 balls that included 4 fours and 2 sixes, but he proved to be the lone warrior for the hosts in the massive chase of 192 runs. Tim Southee will captain the national side in the absence of Williamson.
“Kane’s been trying to get this booked in for a while now, but unfortunately it hasn’t been able to fit into our schedule.” New Zealand coach Gary Stead said.
“The health and well-being of our players and staff is paramount, and we look forward to seeing him in Auckland,” he added.
