Kieron Pollard catch

Standards of fielding in this year’s IPL have remained mixed so far. We have seen some of the sitters being dropped while some extra-ordinary efforts have also taken centre-stage. We came to see something outstanding yesterday on the field.

Kieron Pollard plucks one out of thin air!

Kieron Pollard and boundary line stunners go hand & hand with each other. He added another one of those to his collection yesterday in the match against Rajasthan Royals. Jos Buttler was fighting a lone battle for RR as all top-order batsman were already back to pavilion. He was just launching himself towards the target after reaching his half-century. When James Pattinson came on to bowl the 14th over, Jos Buttler tried to hit him over the long-on fence. But fielding there was the man Kieron Pollard, who timed his jump to perfection. On the first attempt, the ball slipped out of his hands but he grabbed it spectacularly on the second go. Apart from the catch, it was the end of Rajasthan Royals’ last hope – Jos Buttler.

Mumbai Indians hammer Rajasthan Royals

Batting first, Mumbai Indians put 193 on the board mainly because of a magnificent inning from Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya also supported him with handy 30s. The score was above par on the Abu Dhabi surface. In reply, MI bowlers landed early blows to RR batting lineup. RR lost 4 for 42 first up and it was always going to be difficult to come back from there. Jos Buttler was getting into his elements slowly when he was dismissed by this effort from Kieron Pollard. He made 70 runs from 44 balls which also included 5 sixes. In the end, Mumbai Indians won the match by 57 runs and also boosted their net run rate.
