The newly appointed Pakistani captain in the limited overs format in Babar Azam is one player who has been taking giant strides in the international cricket and even that can be an understatement.

The extremely talented batsman is the best thing that has happened to the Pakistan cricket in the last 20 years or so apart from winning the champions trophy in 2017 and T20 world cup in 2009. Pakistan have always produced world class seamers time and time again but they haven’t produced an all time great limited overs batsman in a very long time and Babar Azam has cleared that drought in some style.

He has the potential to even beat Virat Kohli but he needs to free up [his mind] and not think about losing. As soon as he does that and thinks about scoring runs and winning, he will remain a great player for a very long time

The first thing about it [rise of Indian cricket in the past 10 years] is their nationalist approach. Secondly, they have worked extensively on grassroots level. Despite more emphasis on T20 cricket these days, they still focus on teaching the forward defensive shot to their youngsters in order to establish a strong base.
