Steve Smith

Former Australian skipper Steve Smith continued with his podcast session with Rajasthan Royals spin consultant and Blackcaps bowler Ish Sodhi. The two were involved in a Facebook live video session on franchisee’s official Youtube Channel.

Apart from mentioning his goal of winning a Test series in India, Steve Smith also revealed which Indian bowler is the toughest to face. In this context, he picked the left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

Here’s what Steve Smith had to say

The Rajasthan Royals skipper who alike others is at home quarantined due to the COVID-19 pandemic revealed;

“Jadeja in the sub-continent… why he is so good because, he hits that good length and one ball skids on and one spins, and it just all looks same out of the hand. I think consistency in length is key and then having at least one variation,”

Furthermore, he said;

“So, I think for a leg-spinner, having a good googly, or a slider is crucial and for fingers spinners, being able to change the pace without changing the arms speed too much. I reckon there a few around the world who do that, Jadeja is one of them. He is very difficult to play.”

Jadeja vs Steve Smith is always an even contest to watch in any form of cricket. In a normal scenario, both would have been in action for their respective franchises in the IPL. But COVID-19 has run havoc and has halted human life for good.

IPL still under jeopardy

India is already under 21-days lockdown till 15th April which is also the proposed date for IPL to get underway. However, things are getting worse in the country as the number of positive cases are increasing immensely. In such an adverse situation, IPL’s fate is looking gloomy and we might not witness the marquee event.
