Rashid Khan on MS Dhoni: Afghanistan’s wrist spinner Rashid Khan has been one of the hottest assets in the IPL, ever since his debut in 2017. The 22-year-old has been a key member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad unit, but has also made friends from various other franchises as well.
However, one specific individual who Rashid Khan shows utmost respect to is the Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni. The World Cup winning captain is often seen giving his expertise to youngsters after a game comes to an end. Rashid Khan too shared his experience with MS Dhoni on YouTube.
Dhoni compared Rashid Khan’s energy on the field to that of Ravindra Jadeja, and advised him to preserve some of it, as it could lead to an injury.
After our matches, the discussions that I have with him have helped me. Last time he told me, ‘You have to be careful while fielding, you slide, throw the ball when it is not necessary, you get aggressive. Because there is only one Rashid Khan and people want to see you more, what will happen if you get injured? Keep this in mind, I tell (Ravindra) Jadeja the same thing’,” said Rashid.
The ace spinner also talked about his dream of playing under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, as his experience in general and from behind the stumps could be of great help to any bowler.
“I have a dream that I play under MS Dhoni because the experience playing with him, under him is very important. For a bowler, the role of wicketkeeper is very important and I don’t think there is anyone better than him to explain you things.”
IPL Points Table 2021
It hasn’t been the best of years for Rashid Khan and SRH, as they reside right at the bottom with two points. Meanwhile, CSK are back to their best and are in at 2nd with 10 points under their belts.
With the first half of the IPL done and dusted, the IPL second half post the suspension is all set to take place in the UAE starting September 19. The finals is likely to be contested on October 15.
