With AB de Villiers also retiring, they will have a major transition in IPL 2022. Along with forming a core group they also have to look for a player that can captain the side and lead from the front when hundreds of players will go under the hammer in the auction. Although they can look at Glenn Maxwell, who is among the retained players, as a captaincy option but there are many players they can also explore.

1. Shreyas Iyer

2. David Warner

With him set to go under the hammer in the mega-auction, he can be a crucial asset for any team both in respect for his captaincy and his fierce batting at the top of the order.

Despite last season being poor, Warner has taken SRH to new heights and also led them to a title victory in IPL 2016. With RCB in need of an opening batter and captain, the southpaw can be the preference for the franchise.

3. Steve Smith 

Another proven leader that RCB can go after is Australian batter, Steve Smith. With him not being retained by Delhi Capitals, he will available in the mega auction. Although many don’t consider him a T20 batsman, but one cannot doubt his ability as a player. With his experience, he can be a vital clog for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Smith also has a decent captaincy record in IPL. Having led Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Supergiants, he has proved his mettle as a skipper. He also took RPSG to the final of IPL 2017. With RCB in need of a stable middle-order batter, he will be definitely in RCB’s choice in the mega auction.
